This initiative is a special one for our entire team! We’re thrilled to help keep kids in our community warm this winter! For our first year we donated over 200 coats to three schools and Compass Closet, an organization in McLean County that provides resources for children in foster care. Coats for Kids is launched in memory of Josh’s aunt Brenda. Brenda worked in the kitchen at a local school and would purchase coats for kids who didn’t have one. We think she would be proud of this work and we plan to continue building on this initiative for many years to come!
Sullivan Rohrscheib was born June 30, 2020, with a very serious heart defect. He passed away shortly after birth, spending almost his entire life in the loving arms of his parents, Josh Rohrscheib and Ciarra Kent. With support from family and friends, Josh and Ciarra have funded a new outdoor education theater at Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington, in memory of Sullivan. The theater was completed in May of 2022 and adds additional space for community use.
The Mary Rohrscheib Scholarship is offered in loving memory of Josh’s grandmother, who was an elementary school teacher in Central Illinois. The scholarship is offered to celebrate great teachers in Central Illinois and to encourage our next generation of teachers. For more information, visit our scholarship page. Our community’s children are our future, and we want to help them succeed. That’s why we recently donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library through Women United and the United Way of McLean County. This program provides free books to children from birth to age five, promoting early childhood literacy and a love of reading. We’re proud to support such an important initiative that will make a tangible difference in the lives of local families.
We are excited to partner with the Children’s Discovery Museum of Normal, IL, to help give away free helmets at the Bike Rodeo event during the Day of Play! The Day of Play is completely free to attend and encourages kids to get outside and be active. Click here to learn more about the Day of Play and our contribution!
Teachers are some of the most valuable, hardworking members of our community. Through the Top-Tier Teacher Nomination, we want to help reward teachers who have gone above and beyond in their careers to make a difference in their students’ lives. The Top-Tier Teacher Nomination will provide one deserving teacher with a cash prize to help improve their classroom however they choose. Click here to learn more!
To celebrate National Nurses Week, we asked community members to nominate nurses to receive a $100 gift card, as a thank you for the courage and bravery they have shown on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis. Each day, we selected a nominee to receive a $100 gift card. We hope to continue this tradition in future years.
